In 2020, I set myself an ambitious - and perhaps slightly impossible - goal: to photograph every bird species found in Fiji, from resident breeding birds to occasional visitors. I called it Project Manumanu Vuka (which means bird in Fijian), and it has since become a long-term photographic journey through Fiji’s birdlife.
This growing collection brings together my photographs of birds of Fiji, arranged alphabetically by their common English names. My aim is to create images that are both visually engaging and useful for identification, while sharing a little of the diversity found across these islands.
Based in Suva, I’m fortunate that my photography and filmmaking assignments take me across Fiji, giving me opportunities to look for species found only on particular islands. I update this collection as I photograph new species and capture better views of familiar ones.
