WWF Turtle Monitoring Project

WWF-Pacific and WWF-UK launched a turtle monitoring project in Fiji, engaging several groups of young volunteers who monitor known turtle nesting beaches in several regions in Fiji. My assignment was to document the efforts by capturing photos and videos in preparation for a larger international turtle campaign.

On assignment for:

Community-led conservation.

Tying in with the turtle conservation work, a community-led campaign for creating a marine protected area was led by 22 tribes of the Nadogo District on Fiji's second-largest island, Vanua Levu. They eventually declared Nukuvadra and Katawaqa islands as community-protected areas partly due to the fact that these islands are known turtle nesting areas.
